"BARCODES" The Retail Club

BarcodesOn 3rd March 11, 2008 IBA witnessed the addition of a new family with the launch of the retail club "BARCODES". This auspicious occasion started with the lighting of the lamp by our honorable Chief Guest Mr. V.Nagendra, Senior Marketing professional, Family Mart, Mr. Arvind Dholakia, Assistant Dean IBA and Mr. Prasanna Venkatesh, Mentor, Barcodes.

When you think of "Retail", what comes first to mind is the shopping complexes and Kirana stores. Among such a diverse range of Retail Formats, Product Range and Style of Service, we found a singularly unique image which can be found everywhere. This masterpiece was "BARCODE". It is ubiquitous in nature in retail. It is present on every item sold in any retail outlet. We selected it as our logo due to its high affiliation to our field of study and it also was aligned to our club's philosophy.

Barcodes are sets of lines of different sizes which give all the details about the product to POS system reader. They look alike on face but store variety of information. Our logo "Barcode" has 39 lines of different sizes. These lines signify the First Batch of students for PGPRM. This Logo signifies the Purpose of the club which is "to bring all the people with a common aim to be a retailer together". The philosophy behind the club was appreciated by our chief guest and he gave us some knowledge about the retail scenario prevalent in India. "Truly, I had visited many business schools but the enterprising nature of IBA students was positively categorically different - right from the finer details like the cute Appy juice box! As they say, Retail is in detail and you guys have already demonstrated in the launch of the club." says Mr. Nagendra.
