The
Corporate Experience - Prelude to effective placement
The
IBA programme is structured in a unique way which works
on self motivation. The students get moulded from the
time they enter the campus. They learn to plan their
academic growth, with the faculty mentoring them.
In
the process they are imbibed with challeges of real-time business situations, and
are also given the requisite thinking tools to combat with
them. Thus their perspectives are widened and acumen
sharpened. The corporate Project Assignments, Case Studies,
Presentations, Seminars, Symposia and Research work
that they are subjected to do, hone their skills, giving
them the requisite confidence.
The
careful blend of the Corporate Project Assignment
with the Final Placement is a continuous activity at IBA.
The IBA students are privileged, since they are guided
by leading HRD Consultants who have a large and varied
clientele as part of their consultancy practice.
The placement division of IBA constantly monitors the
market needs and shifts, studies the trends and preferences
in the industry and orients the students accordingly
through a process of functional, managerial, and behavioural
skill development techniques.
IBA
has a strong interface with the industry through
representations that form the core of IBA's Governing
Council. An effective networking for this objective
is already in place, which is continually expanding
geographically.
Examples
of this are the successful conduct of the National-level Management
Seminar 'Avirbhava 2002' in association with the Greater
Mysore Chamber of Industry at Hotel Winsor Manor Sheraton,
Bengaluru which saw close to a hundred practising managers
interact for one full day with IBA students. Weekly
Guest lectures are conducted at the IBA Campus which
sees the management fraternity of Bengaluru and also from around the world flocking in
regularly, giving an opportunity for meaningful interaction
to students.
Also,
in alignment with this need was the day-long meet of the IIM-Ahmedabad Alumnus Association, Bengaluru Chapter in IBA campus.
This rare event brought together nearly 100 successful
top corporate leaders - from INFOSYS, COGNIZANT
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS, IBM, GE CAPITAL, TATA TELESERVICES,
BPL MOBILE, MPHASIS, SATYAM COMPUTERS, ARC ADVISORY GROUP,
HELIOS & MATHESON, PRICE WATERHOUSE COOPERS,
etc. Whilst freely moving around the expansive campus,
they also interacted with the IBA students.
A High-tea was also organised by the IBA students in the campus for the industry captains of Bengaluru, wherein about 30 managers participated
in serious impromptu discussions with them.
In
sum, the placement initiative at IBA encompasses the
whole process from establishing industry contacts and submitting
profiles to managing post-placement alumni aspirations.
